5 Days to go!!

At what stage does the countdown become the home stretch??!

Went for final dress fitting yesterday, phew, that sucker was tight! Could hardly breathe! But the dress is beautiful. My bolero hadn't come in, which is a pain in the bleep, and I won't see that now till Monday.

Then in the evening the boys went for their final suit fitting - all looking handsome - I shed many a tear as I saw my brother, dad, son and H2b in the finery - just can't believe and feeling quite overwhelmed!

I'm having a chillax day today, after the rushing around of the last few days. Have got second in command bridesmaid (and best friend) coming down from Leeds today - she won't get her till late afternoon, so I'm just gonna do a bit of tidying up, list writing, and playing on the computer - something I've not done for a while.

Have also had to take H2b to work and back yesterday and today due to train strikes - could do without that - but I need the car so had no option but to drive him in.

Agenda for the next few days?

Rehearsal tomorrowfollowed by hen do. Sunday is just another rest day...recovery day!

Monday is a rush round again with dropping the martini glasses to the florist and pick up my dress, followed by getting acrylics put on.

I have demanded that nothing is done on Tuesday - just want to sit back and do nothing, get an early night in preparation for WEDDING DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Better 8 than never

I totally missed yesterday's number 8 countdown! But with good reason!

Was at the hairdressers at 9.15am to get my hair cut and coloured and then have another hair trial!

My hair is now a lovely dark dark brown - almost black, and I just LOVE when my hair gets coloured - it really lifts me - unlike the weather, which is just pants at the moment.

My hairdresser then curled me up in heated rollers and put me under the heat lamp dryer thing. My mum and sister then turned up at the salon - mum was getting her hair cut also.

The curls turned out beautifully and will drop just the right amount for the ceremony. With my tiara and veil fixed in place my hair looked gorgeous and glossy! Had my sister in tears!

Can't wait to see it all come together!

Order of the Day Booklets - The Re-Make

Yes, I had to re-make our order of the day booklets (>_<)

H2b's sister was going to do a reading at our wedding, she decided that she was actually too nervous to do it, and retired from the position. My other sister (and bridesmaid) was able to step in and do it instead. But it did mean me having to re-make all of our booklets.

But they're all re-done now, and I've added some little gems to the front of the booklet that I had going spare.

Candy Buffet Mock Up

Once the sweets and jars were bought, the next step was to fill up the jars, label them up and then have a play about with them to see how they would look set up on a table. I have to say I think our jars of candy look wicked!!

Candy Table mock up

Not shown in the photo is a sign I made - I don't have a photo of the original sign, but I have the image that I created in PSP!

Sign

This has been printed off and placed in a frame, and will sit next to the buffet with some candy stripe paper bags.

Hope it goes down as well as we're hoping it will!!

Ooo... piece of candy...

Once we decided on having a candy buffet we then had the fun task of choosing the sweets to go in the jars! Luckily I have a Makro card and we were able to buy them at wholesale prices. I think in the end we bought a few too many sweets, but they'll get used up - Halloween, Christmas and Birthday parties - they've got a long use by date on them!

Here are the sweeties that we chose - hope that our guests enjoy them too!

Mini Wham Bars

Sweet Bananas

Strawberry Whips

Shrimps

Rainbow Dust

Porky Pigs

Love Hearts

Gummi Bears

Giant Strawberries

Fruit Salads

Friendship Rings

Flying Saucers

Dolly Beads

Cherry Lips

Cola Bottles

Cherry Cola Bottles

Cherries

Candy Cones

I also made some tags to attach to the jars with ribbon so people would know what was what!

Into Single Figures Now!

OMG - we are down to single figures now...

it's nine days until our wedding day!

I can hardly believe how quickly the time has gone since we got engaged in March 2008 - and now we really are in the final countdown!!

I feel a mixture of excitement and nerves. I know that everything is done - although I keep checking and re-checking! I'm excited to see all the things we have planned, and made and bought all come together. I'm nervous, because it's a big deal - getting married to the man I love - but I can't wait for us to be centre of attention and wear my dress!

Jars & Scoops

Once the decision had been made for us to have a candy buffet at our wedding we nipped to Ikea to purchase some jars...

Plus, we had a left over giant martini glass (which we are using in our table centerpieces) which we bought from The Range

At this stage I had no clue what sweets we were going to buy, so we just bought a load of different styles, shapes and sizes and hoped for the best! At worse I would always find some use for them in the home!

I loved the shape of some of the containers that I saw in the various photos I found online of candy buffets, but those were going to work out to be way too expensive - as pretty as they are!

The next items to buy were the scoops. I wanted to buy scoops like you see in sweet shop's pic n' mix a la...

But again, these were quite pricey, and I wouldn't really have a use for them afterwards either (unlike the jars!). With hindsight though, it's a good thing we didn't buy that sort - they wouldn't have been easy to use in the jars that we bought.

Instead we bought some miniature (compared with normal!) sized ladles and giant (compared with normal, but smaller than serving size!) spoons from the 99p Store. The bargain, was that they came in packs of two - a spoon AND a ladle for a bargantastic 99p!

Next came the fun part... choosing the sweets!!

Sweet Love...

I can't remember the first time I saw the idea of a candy buffet - I guess it was probably in a bridal magazine. Candy buffets are seemingly very popular in the USA, and growing in fashion here in the UK....as soon as I saw it, I knew I would want one at our wedding!

I searched online and found lots of different images then sold the idea to H2b - it didn't take much persuasion!! My candy buffet dream would become a reality.

Before sharing our ideas with you,
I thought first I would share some candy buffet love, after all I collected lots of pictures and it would be a shame not to share them!

I collected these images a long while ago - mainly via Google images, so unfortunately can't credit them. If you see your image and would like it removed, please just contact me, and I will do so.
